Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Manik Saha announced that the state government is taking steps to establish an international skill centre and a foreign language school aimed at opening up global employment opportunities for the youth of the state.

Chief Minister Saha made the remarks while addressing the 3rd Regional Workshop under NITI Aayog’s State Support Mission, held at Hotel Polo Towers in Agartala on Tuesday.

He said the proposed international skill centre and foreign language school would help young people access overseas job markets.

He also pointed out that knowledge of foreign languages would make it easier for Tripura’s youth to work and communicate abroad, reducing their dependence on opportunities outside the state.

CM Saha said, “We are working towards setting up an international skill centre and a foreign language school to create global employment opportunities for our youth. Earlier, young people from the state had to move elsewhere, but proficiency in foreign languages will now make it easier for them to work abroad and communicate effectively.”

He further stressed on governance and said that it is fundamentally about improving the quality of life for every citizen and ensuring that development reaches the last mile.

“Governance, after all, is fundamentally about improving the quality of life for every citizen and ensuring that development reaches the last mile, as our Prime Minister often emphasises. The State Support Mission represents a defining evolution in India’s federal governance architecture,” the Chief Minister said.

The Tripura Chief Minister said that the mission highlights a partnership-based approach between the Centre and the states, where states are seen not just as implementing agencies but as equal partners in India’s development journey.

“Through the State Support Mission, NITI Aayog has empowered states to strengthen their State Institutes of Transformation – institutions that support policy design, outcome monitoring and inter-sector convergence. The mission acknowledges that sustainable socio-economic transformation is rooted in strong institutions and helps align states’ long-term visions with the national aspiration of Viksit Bharat 2047,” he said.
