Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday announced that the state government disbursed Rs. 834.45 crore in the 2024–25 fiscal year to provide social welfare pensions to 3.9 lakh beneficiaries.

Each recipient currently receives Rs. 2,000 a month, double the earlier amount of Rs. 1,000.

Speaking at a public programme, Saha reiterated his government’s focus on inclusive welfare.

“We are committed to supporting every section of society. The pension hike reflects our determination to ensure dignity and security for the weaker sections,” he said.

The chief minister highlighted that the state budget earmarked Rs. 7,000 crore for capital expenditure this year, underlining the need for infrastructure growth to sustain Tripura’s development.

Outlining long-term goals, Saha said his government has drafted a roadmap to transform Tripura into a developed state by 2047, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat.’

Tripura, he noted, is the first state in the Northeast and the fifth in the country to prepare such a blueprint.

As part of ongoing welfare measures, the government will distribute 11,130 mobile phones to ICDS and Anganwadi workers to aid nutrition monitoring through the Poshan app.

At the same event, Saha inaugurated 19 development projects, including new Anganwadi centres, aimed at strengthening grassroots services for children, women, and vulnerable communities.
