Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday announced that the state government has launched a major recruitment drive to fill 1,733 teaching posts across various categories, aiming to strengthen the education sector.
Addressing a government function, Saha said the administration has already inducted 6,998 teachers and allied staff since 2018.
Countering criticism over job creation, he noted that 20,181 unemployed youths have secured government employment in the same period, while nearly 5,000 others have been engaged on a contractual basis.
“The recruitment process shows our commitment to tackling unemployment. There will be no compromise in filling critical vacancies in education, health and family welfare,” the Chief Minister said.

Claiming a clean and fair appointment mechanism under the BJP-led government, Saha asserted that transparency is now the hallmark of recruitments in Tripura — unlike in the past.
“No one can say they got a government job through recommendations anymore,” he remarked.
Saha further informed that the government is working on a transparent transfer policy for employees.
He added that a marking system may soon be introduced for MBBS doctors serving three years in rural areas to pursue postgraduate studies, with the aim of improving healthcare availability in the state’s remote regions.
