Agartala: With Durga Puja celebrations beginning on September 28, Tripura Police have rolled out extensive security measures to ensure the state’s biggest festival passes off peacefully.
Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar on Friday announced that 7,750 security personnel will be deployed across the state during the festivities.
In Agartala alone, which hosts more than 250 pujas, surveillance will be intensified with the installation of 320 additional CCTV cameras at strategic locations, complementing the existing network.
The DGP urged puja organisers to set up their own CCTV cameras to aid crowd management and detect any suspicious activity.
To provide on-the-spot support to devotees, 241 assistance booths will also be established in key areas.
Anticipating a heavy rush of visitors from rural areas, particularly through train services, security personnel will be stationed at railway stations.
Dhankar further emphasised that police will keep a strict watch on noise pollution, allowing organisers to play music only within permissible limits.
“Every measure is being taken to ensure that citizens can celebrate the festival in a safe and secure environment,” the DGP said.
