AGARTALA: The Khowai district administration in Tripura launched a sports campaign on Friday aimed at raising awareness about drug abuse and other social issues among the youth, according to an official statement.
As part of the ‘Khowai Says YES to Life’ initiative, participants in various sports such as football, volleyball, and cricket will undergo screenings for major infectious and lifestyle diseases.
The campaign also includes the broadcasting of audio and video messages during matches to further spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
The inaugural match took place at the Dakshin Maharani Village Committee premises in the Mungiakami Block of Khowai, with football being the first game.

“I hope this initiative will have a positive impact in our fight against drug abuse,” she said.
Chandran also announced that more such matches will be held across the district in the coming weeks.
“We aim to reach a large number of youths through this campaign, which will assist the health department in implementing preventive measures,” she added.
