Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha will inaugurate the Diwali festival and mela at Maa Tripura Sundari temple in Gomati district on Monday evening.
The temple is one of the 51 ‘shakti pithas’, holy shrines for Hindus.
The 3-day festival is set to be celebrated at Maa Tripura Sundari temple from October 20- 22. The Trust Mela Committee and Gomati District Administration have jointly organised the grand event.
The chief minister will also perform the special Kalyan Aarti at the banks of the Kalyan Sagar lake. For the sacred occasion, priests from Kashi Vishwanath Temple have been invited to perform rituals in accordance with ancient traditions.
MPs Biplab Kumar Deb and Kriti Devi Debbarma, BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee, Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, and Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy are set to attend the inaugural programme, said MLA Abhishek Debroy, who also heads the mela organizing committee, on Monday.

This year’s celebration holds significance as Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the redeveloped Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex under the Prasad Scheme project.
Dr Kiran Kumar, SP of Gomati district, said, “Tight security measures have been implemented, with over 2,500 personnel deployed. More than 37 CCTV cameras and several police assistance booths have been set up to ensure smooth crowd management and public safety.”
