Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday officially unveiled the ‘Tripura Startup Policy-2024’ at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala.
This policy is designed to promote innovation and entrepreneurial activities.
Speaking during the event, the chief minister said, “This policy will ensure the state’s youth receive necessary government support to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations.”
The policy includes financial assistance to help youth fulfill their dreams as entrepreneurs or innovators, Saha added.
Notably, the Tripura IT/ITES Startup Policy 2019 was launched to foster a conducive environment for IT-based startups and to encourage innovation.
Over the years, 26 IT-based start-ups have been registered under this policy, with incentives exceeding Rs 1 crore, creating approximately 130 jobs.
The Tripura Startup Policy-2024 aims to expand its scope to support both IT and non-IT startups.
According to Information and Technology Minister Pranajit Singh Roy, 127 startups from Tripura are currently registered with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India, of which 26 are recognized under the IT/ITES Startup Scheme.
The new policy will address the needs of the remaining 101 startups and incentivize new ones, he added.
The Tripura Startup Policy-2024 will provide operating expense support of Rs 20,000 per month to startups.
Women-led startups will receive an additional 10% boost, while those led by specially-abled individuals will get an extra 20%.
The policy will also provide financial assistance for acquiring raw materials, purchasing equipment, obtaining patents, and marketing products.
