Tripura board announces Madhyamik, Higher Secondary results with over 85% pass rate

Agartala: The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) on Wednesday announced the results of the Madhyamik (Class 10) and Higher Secondary (Class 12) examinations, posting pass percentages of 86.53% and 79.29%, respectively.

This year marks a milestone for the board, as it declared both sets of results within just two months of the examinations—a record turnaround time for TBSE.

Addressing a press conference, TBSE President Dhanajoy Gonchowdhury said 29,670 students had appeared for the Madhyamik examination, with 86.53% clearing it.

“The overall performance remains consistent with last year,” he noted.

Of the 1,019 schools that presented students for the exam, 343 reported a perfect 100% pass rate.

In the Higher Secondary category, 21,506 students took the exams, with a slight improvement in the pass percentage compared to last year’s 79.27%.

“This is the first time TBSE has announced results for both levels in such a short span. It reflects improved operational efficiency and coordination,” Gonchowdhury said.

As in previous years, the board chose not to release the top-10 merit list for either examination.

Explaining the decision, Gonchowdhury said the results are still provisional and subject to reviews under the Bachar Bachao Abhiyan (Save the Year Mission).

“Announcing a merit list now could disadvantage students whose scores might improve after re-evaluation. We’ll declare the merit rankings only after all review processes are complete,” he explained.

He also acknowledged that early merit lists can influence college admissions, making accuracy critical.

Chief Minister Manik Saha congratulated the successful candidates, posting on Facebook: “Congratulations to all the students who passed the examinations conducted by TBSE. I wish them a bright and successful future.”
