Agartala: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura has expelled Manna Dey, mandal president of Khayerpur under West Tripura district, for allegedly circulating personal video clips on social media.
The decision was announced by the party’s state committee on Sunday.
The action follows the circulation of several video and audio clips featuring intimate conversations between party leaders, which recently went viral.
According to the party, Dey was involved in sharing some of these clips online.
In an expulsion letter issued by BJP state general secretary Amit Rakshit, the party said, “It has come to our notice that you have started sharing personal videos on social media. Such actions violate party discipline and are unacceptable.” The letter further stated that Dey’s conduct had damaged the party’s image.

Despite repeated warnings, the BJP alleged that Dey continued to flout party rules.
Acting on the directive of state party president Rajib Bhattacharjee, Dey was expelled with immediate effect and relieved from all party posts.
Although the expulsion letter was dated May 24, the announcement was made public on the party’s official Facebook page on Sunday.
