Agartala: With the tenure of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) set to expire on April 18, 2026, election authorities have begun early logistical preparations for the upcoming council polls, including plans to source Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) from Madhya Pradesh.
As part of the initial arrangements, senior officials from the Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission have visited Tripura to assess facilities for the safe storage and transportation of EVMs. Sanju Kumari, Deputy Secretary, and Priyanshi Bhanwar, Under Secretary, State Election Commission, Madhya Pradesh, arrived in the state and reviewed the proposed warehouses in Sepahijala district earmarked for storing the machines.
According to the Sepahijala district administration, the officials inspected access control systems and other safeguards to ensure secure and tamper-proof storage of the EVMs. They also held discussions with the district administration on transportation plans for moving the machines from Madhya Pradesh to Tripura, with a focus on safety, coordination and timely delivery to ensure the smooth conduct of the election process.
The inspection was carried out in the presence of Sepahijala District Magistrate and Collector Siddhartha Shiv Jaiswal and Additional District Magistrate, who briefed the delegation on local arrangements and administrative readiness.
The District Magistrate of Sepahijala also shared details of the visit, stating that the inspection was aimed at reviewing storage facilities and finalising transportation plans well ahead of the election schedule.
While the Tripura State Election Commission is yet to officially announce the poll dates, the early start to logistical coordination — including collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission — signals efforts to ensure a timely, secure, and hassle-free electoral process.
