Agartala: Tripura police arrested three persons for allegedly beating up a woman and shaving her head over a suspected extramarital affair in Gomati district.
A video clip of three women beating up another woman and shaving her head for having an alleged extramarital affair went viral on social media on Sunday.
The incident happened in the Bhangerpar area of the district on Friday, and the video clip of the incident became viral on Sunday.
The three accused women were arrested on Monday after police lodged an FIR.
“We have arrested three women for beating up another woman. A specific case was lodged against the accused persons. An investigation is on,” Gomati district SP, Kiran Kumar, said.

The Tripura Commission for Women’s chairperson, Jharna Debbarma, strongly condemned the act. She stated that citizens cannot “take the law into their own hands” and urged people to report allegations to the police or administration instead.
The women’s panel has demanded strict action against the culprits.
