AGARTALA: Tripura is all set to welcome its new Governor as Indra Sena Reddy Nallu is set to be sworn in as the 20th Governor of the state. As reported, the official ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday.
The swearing-in event is expected to be attended by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and his cabinet, alongside high-ranking officials from the state administration. The preparations for the ceremony were announced by the local press on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, the governor-designate was accorded a warm reception by the government at the Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala.
“We welcome Indra Sena Reddy Nallu in the land of Tripura Sundari and offer our best wishes for his upcoming tenure as the governor of the state,” wrote Chief Minister Saha on a micro-blogging website.
Apart from Chief Minister Saha, Tourism and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, and Tribal Affairs Minister Bikash Debbarma were present to welcome the Governor-designate along with DGP Amitabha Ranjan and other officials of the state administration were also seen in attendance.
Indra Sena Reddy Nallu assumes the role of Governor after the departure of his predecessor, Satyadeo Narain Arya, who held the position from July 2021. Arya received a farewell and his ceremonial guard of honour on Monday.
President Droupadi Murmu had appointed Nallu Indrasena Reddy as the Governor of Tripura on October 18.
Reddy Nallu is a three-time MLA, with past victories in the Malakpet constituency of the undivided Andhra Pradesh during the 1983, 1985, and 1999 Assembly polls. Additionally, Nallu had served as the BJP state president for Andhra Pradesh in 2003 and was also the party’s national general secretary in 2014.
