Agartala: Seven people, including the secretary of a local club, have been arrested for allegedly assaulting the Officer-in-Charge of Belonia police station in South Tripura district, police said on Saturday.
The incident occurred on Friday night when OC Shibu Ranjan Dey intervened to stop loud music and dancing at the Oriental Club, where a high-decibel sound system had been playing late into the night.
“After the officer switched off the sound system, several club members became aggressive, pushed him to the ground, and physically assaulted him,” Tripura Police spokesperson Rajdeep Deb said.

A case has been registered against seven members of the club, including its secretary, under relevant sections for voluntarily causing grievous hurt and obstructing a public servant from performing his duty.
“All the accused have been arrested, and further investigation is underway,” the police spokesperson added.
