Agartala: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate the redeveloped Tripureswari temple in Tripura’s Gomati district on April 7.
This was announced by Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Friday.
The temple, one of the 51 ‘Shakti Peeths’, has been redeveloped under the ‘PRASAD’ scheme, a flagship programme of the Centre, with a cost of Rs 54 crore.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sanctioned funds for redeveloping Tripureswari temple under the PRASAD scheme. The people of the state want the PM to inaugurate the redeveloped shrine. During his visit to New Delhi, Chief Minister Manik Saha met the PM and invited him to inaugurate the temple. PM Modi told the CM to prepare a ‘tentative date’ for inauguration and he will confirm it,” Roy said.
During an inspection of the pending construction work for the temple’s beautification in Udaipur in Gomati District, he stated that all involved departments have guaranteed the completion of the temple’s beautification by March 20.
“By March 20, all construction work will be completed,” he said.
Roy indicated that, given the temple’s sanctity, the sale of non-vegetarian items, including garlic and chicken, could be restricted in the vicinity.
“We are also addressing unauthorized constructions around the temple through legal means. Officials will ensure that no non-vegetarian items are sold in the vicinity to maintain the sanctity of the site. This practice is common in temples across other states, where only vegetarian food is available,” he added.
