Agartala: The Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission (TERC) has approved the power tariff for 2025–26 with no significant changes in rates across consumer categories, a senior TSECL official said on Wednesday.
The revised tariff, applicable from November 1, covers 10.5 lakh consumers in the state.
“The average cost of supply for 2025–26 has been fixed at Rs. 7.61 per kW, marginally higher than Rs. 7.56 per kW in the previous financial year,” the official said.
For domestic single-phase consumers, the fixed charge has been reset to Rs. 16 per kW per month, replacing the earlier range of Rs. 25 to Rs. 75.
For commercial users, the fixed charge has been set at Rs. 18 per kW per month.
To encourage industry and social sectors, the regulator has introduced a 10% rebate on energy charges for IT units, women’s Self Help Groups, and mobile towers in remote areas.
TERC has also revised the parameters for Kutir Jyoti connections, raising the maximum connected load to 0.5 kW and allowing monthly consumption of up to 30 units, compared to the earlier cap of 15 units.
Consumers exceeding this limit for three consecutive months will be shifted to the regular domestic category.
The commission has further directed TSECL to accelerate the rollout of smart meters to improve energy efficiency and billing accuracy, and to submit a proposal for a green (solar) tariff in the next tariff petition.
