Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced the formation of a five-member high-level task force to attract investments to the Northeast Region (NER).
The panel includes Chief Ministers from Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Sikkim, along with Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.
Saha has been appointed the convener of this initiative, which was decided during the 72nd plenary meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in December 2024 in Agartala.
The task force will work over six months to assess the investment landscape in the region and create a roadmap to position the Northeast as a premier investment destination.
Priority sectors include agriculture, tourism, logistics, information technology, and renewable energy.
The panel will also focus on identifying high-potential areas to establish specialised hubs such as agro-processing zones, tourism circuits, and IT corridors.
Recommendations will be made to streamline policies, enhance ease of doing business, and address investor concerns.
The initiative is part of the broader vision of achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s #ViksitBharat2047, aiming for a developed and prosperous India.
Sharing details on social media, Saha expressed optimism about the initiative, describing it as a crucial step towards boosting economic growth and development in the Northeast.
The task force will submit its findings and actionable recommendations to the NEC within the stipulated timeframe.
