Agartala: Five Border Security Force (BSF) personnel sustained injuries after being attacked by suspected cattle smugglers near the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura’s Sepahijala district on Friday evening, police said.
A BSF vehicle was also damaged in the incident, which occurred along the Bishalgarh–Kamthana Road, close to the Kamthana border outpost.
According to Bishalgarh police station officer-in-charge Bikash Das, BSF troops had signalled a vehicle to stop for inspection, but the occupants sped away towards a local cattle market.

The BSF personnel pursued the vehicle, leading to a heated confrontation that quickly turned violent.
“Five personnel were injured and their vehicle was vandalised during the attack,” Das said.
Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to identify and arrest those involved.
A video of the incident circulating on social media shows a senior BSF officer expressing frustration over the lack of public intervention as the assault unfolded.
Authorities have increased vigilance in the border area following the attack.
