Agartala: Eyeing a bigger electoral victory in Tripura, TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarman has floated a new platform – the TIPRA Citizens’ Federation.
As TIPRA Motha has primarily been a political party fighting for the tribal rights in Bengali-majority Tripura, Pradyot Kishore Debbarman is now eyeing non-tribal votes to register bigger victory in the upcoming state assembly election.
The royal scion said he decided to launch TIPRA Citizens’ Forum to accommodate Manipuri, Bengali, and Adivasi members. But, he refused to brand the federation as a non-tribal outfit.
“It is not a non-tribal outfit and everyone can join,” he said, adding that TIPRA Citizens’ Federation will be led by former Congress MLA Tapas De.
Though it is still premature to comment, the TIPRA Citizens’ Federation is likely to eye wooing support of Bengali, Scheduled Caste and OBC electorates.
TIPRA Motha has already ruled out possibility of pre-poll alliance with Congress, CPI (M) and the BJP, and now, the new citizens’ federation will be used to garner support in non-tribal dominated constituencies.
