Agartala: The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has sanctioned Rs 202 crore for the infrastructure development of Agartala Government Dental College.
This was informed by Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha while addressing the second foundation day celebration of the college at Town Hall.
Dr. Saha also informed that the state government has planned to create additional posts in the institution.
CM Saha said, “Opening a dental college has always been my dream. During earlier regimes, we raised this issue many times, but the then government never agreed. Finally, I decided to set it up in the old IGM Hospital building, and within nine months, we inaugurated this 50-seat dental college. Under the PM-DeVINE scheme, Rs 202 crore has been sanctioned, and the tender has already been floated.”
He said the state government is committed to improving healthcare facilities in the state.
“We’ve already conducted two free kidney transplants and are preparing for liver and bone marrow transplants. We’re also working to ease the burden on the state hospital by strengthening district hospitals. A Cardiac Care Centre has been opened in Ambassa, Dhalai District,” he stated.
The chief minister also mentioned the plans of the state government to open a homeopathy and an Ayurvedic college.
