Agartala: The opposition CPI(M) on Saturday alleged that its local office in Pratapgarh, West Tripura, was vandalised by BJP-backed miscreants using a bulldozer.
Leader of Opposition and CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury said the attack occurred around 1:30 am.
“We have video footage showing the destruction carried out by BJP-backed goons,” he claimed, describing it as a “cowardly act carried out under the cover of darkness.”
Chaudhury accused the ruling BJP and RSS of undermining democratic values and said the party is “looting public funds and destroying the democratic atmosphere of the state.”
Ratan Das, CPI(M) district secretary, added that this was the seventh attack on the party office since the BJP came to power in Tripura.

“This time, the front gate and office doors were destroyed. It was clearly pre-planned. Police have yet to make any arrests,” he said.
When contacted, BJP district president Ashim Bhattacharjee declined to comment on the incident.
Police confirmed receiving a complaint and said that the bulldozer used in the attack has been seized.
“An investigation is underway,” said Subrata Debnath, officer-in-charge of East Agartala police station.
