Agartala: The Central government has announced an additional fund of Rs 150 crore for the development of the tourism sector in Tripura.
This was informed by Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury after a meeting with Union Cabinet Minister for Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on March 3 in New Delhi.
“Today I met the Union Tourism Minister Shri @gssjodhpur Ji in New Delhi. I informed him about the ongoing activities and future plans of Tourism and submitted a DPR to the Minister for the development of tourism in the state,” Minister Sushanta Chowdhury posted on X.

The union minister assured me of full cooperation in taking Tripura’s tourism to new heights, he said.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary and Director of the Tourism Department.
The Rs 150 crore funding will significantly enhance Tripura’s tourism infrastructure, making it as a major travel destination in the Northeast.
Chowdhury also met Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu and sought his intervention to control the air fares to reduce the financial burden on the air passengers, keeping in mind the larger interest of the air passengers of the state.

He also made a formal appeal for the introduction of more new air services from MBB Airport, Agartala.
“Hon’ble Minister assured that the issue of implementing a benchmark and guidelines for air fares in the state will be seriously considered, keeping in mind the larger interest of the air passengers,” he said.
