The Centre has approved 25 road projects in Tripura aimed at improving connectivity to remote tribal areas, with a total investment of Rs. 68.67 crore.
The projects, covering a combined length of 65.38 km, have been sanctioned under the Road Connectivity component of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN), officials said.
The initiative will provide all-weather road access to 30 habitations inhabited by Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) across the state.
Officials said improved connectivity is expected to significantly enhance the socio-economic conditions of tribal communities by linking remote villages more effectively with nearby towns and urban centres.

The new road infrastructure is also expected to boost local economic activity by facilitating trade and commerce, improving access to markets and essential services such as healthcare and education, and creating employment opportunities in rural areas.
The projects form part of the Centre’s broader push to strengthen infrastructure in the North-East and align with its vision of inclusive growth, with officials saying the PM-JANMAN interventions are expected to have a transformative impact on tribal communities and contribute to the goal of a developed India.
