Agartala: In a significant breakthrough against trans-border narcotics trafficking, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel stationed at Border Out Post (BOP) NC Nagar in Tripura‘s Sepahijala district have successfully foiled an attempt by smugglers to smuggle contraband across the Indo-Bangladesh border and seized Yaba tablets worth Rs 4.5 crore.
BSF personnel observed suspicious movement near the international border. On being challenged, the smugglers fled, abandoning the consignment on Indian soil.
The operation resulted in the recovery of 21 packets containing 43,800 Yaba tablets with an estimated value of Rs 4.38 crore.
Besides, BSF troops seized other contraband items worth Rs 3,68,604 from different locations along the Tripura border on the same day.
This successful operation underscores the BSF’s intensified commitment to curbing cross-border smuggling and ensuring national security.
Authorities have taken possession of the seized items for legal proceedings.

Earlier, a joint operation conducted by the Assam Rifles and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Teliamura resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of 60,000 Yaba tablets, valued at approximately Rs 6 crore, from a vehicle.
The accused were identified as Bar Hussain and Md Juber Ahmad.
