Agartala: Seven Tripura Police personnel will be honoured with the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) and Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) on the occasion of Republic Day, 2025.
Goduguluri Srinivasa Rao, Additional Director General, Tripura Police has been selected for the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.
The six other policemen who have been selected for the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) include Bijoy Debbarma (SP), Manik Das (SP), Panna Lal Sen (DSP), Ajoy Debbarma (DSP), Shyamal Debbarma (DSP) and Niranjan Debbarma (Subedar).
The President’s Medal for Distinguished Service is awarded for a special distinguished record in service and the Medal for Meritorious Service is awarded for valuable service characterized by resource and devotion to duty.
A total of 942 personnel of Police, Fire, Home Guard & Civil Defence (HG&CD) and Correctional Services will be awarded Gallantry and Service Medals on the occasion of the Republic Day.
Out of 101 President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM), 85 will be awarded to Police Service, 5 to Fire Service, 7 to Civil Defence & Home Guard Service, and 4 to Correctional Service.
Out of 746 Medals for Meritorious Service (MSM), 634 will be awarded to Police Service, 37 to Fire Service, 39 to Civil Defence & Home Guard Service,e and 36 to Correctional Service.
The Medals for Gallantry (GM) are granted for exceptional and noteworthy acts of bravery in saving lives and property, or in preventing crime and apprehending criminals.

Among the 95 Gallantry Awards, 28 personnel from Left-Wing Extremism affected areas, 28 personnel from Jammu & Kashmir region, 3 personnel from the Northeast, and 36 personnel from other regions will be awarded for their gallant action.
