Agartala: Five Bangladeshi nationals, en route to Maharashtra, were arrested on Sunday at the Agartala Railway Station.
According to reports, a team of Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel, acting on a tip-off, arrested the five Bangladeshi nationals at the Agartala Railway Station.
During a search in Kanchanjungha Express before its departure for West Bengal, six individuals were spotted for their suspicious behaviour.
They were detained, and later it was found that five of them were Bangladeshi citizens.
Following interrogations, the five Bangladeshi nationals confessed that they were on their way to Mumbai. “We have recovered documents from their possession which proved their Bangladeshi identity,” the officer in-charge Government Railway Police Sanjit Sen said.
Sen said one Indian tout from Maharashtra, Ronny Maksud Khan, was the sixth accused arrested along with the Bangladeshi nationals. They were also produced before the court.
The arrested Bangladeshi citizens are identified as Bellal Hossain, Sohail Miah, Ajijul Hakim, Shami and Hafijul Islam.
Ronny Maksud Khan confessed that he works at a garment factory in Maharashtra and all the Bangladeshi citizens were being taken to that place for work.
