Guwahati: Tata Motors has launched its registered vehicle scrapping facility (RVSF) in Guwahati, marking a significant step towards responsible vehicle disposal in the Northeast.

The new facility has the capacity to dismantle up to 15,000 end-of-life vehicles annually and will serve both passenger and commercial vehicles of all brands. It is operated in partnership with Axom Platinum Scrappers.

This facility brings the total number of such RVSFs operated by Tata Motors to seven, with other locations in Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, Delhi-NCR, and Pune.

The move is part of Tata Motors’ broader initiative to advance sustainable practices and contribute to a circular economy.

Speaking at the inauguration, Tata Motors Executive Director Girish Wagh said, “With the launch of the Northeast’s first Re.Wi.Re facility in Guwahati, we are taking a significant step in promoting responsible vehicle scrapping in the region, in line with our commitment to sustainability.”

The event was attended by Assam government ministers Jogen Mohan and Ashok Singhal, as well as Sanjive Narain, Director of Axom Automobiles.

Wagh also highlighted that the company’s expanded network of RVSFs will enable it to dismantle over 100,000 vehicles annually, further strengthening its contribution to environmental sustainability.

Minister Jogen Mohan noted that the facility would create valuable employment opportunities and contribute to the economic growth of the region.

He also emphasised the environmental benefits, including the safe disposal of end-of-life vehicles and a reduction in carbon emissions.

Equipped with advanced dismantling technology for both commercial and passenger vehicles, the facility includes dedicated stations for safely handling components like tyres, batteries, fuels, oils, and gases.

Tata Motors aims to foster a cleaner, greener environment through this modern facility.

Ashok Singhal, another minister present at the event, described the facility as a “key step toward a cleaner, greener Assam,” adding that it would play a crucial role in fostering a sustainable vehicle disposal ecosystem.
