In a bid to enhance user experience and accessibility, WhatsApp is reportedly in the works to introduce an innovative feature allowing users to share photos, videos, documents, and more without the need for an internet connection.

According to WABetaInfo, a reliable source for WhatsApp-related updates, the messaging platform is currently testing this feature, aiming to streamline data sharing even in offline scenarios.

The proposed functionality is expected to leverage Bluetooth technology, similar to popular file-sharing apps like ShareIt.

While WhatsApp is yet to officially confirm the rollout of this feature, its presence in the beta testing phase suggests that users can anticipate its availability in the near future.

Users will be required to keep their phone’s Bluetooth turned on to initiate the offline file-sharing process.

This aligns with the common system permission on Android devices, enabling applications to utilize Bluetooth for discovering nearby devices and sharing local files seamlessly.

For seamless connectivity, WhatsApp will also seek authorisation to access system files and the device’s photo gallery, along with requiring location permission to identify nearby devices.

Despite operating in an offline mode, the proposed file-sharing mechanism is poised to uphold robust security standards.

All shared files will be encrypted, ensuring data integrity and safeguarding the privacy of both parties involved in the sharing process.

Given the frequent exchange of media files and documents among WhatsApp users, the introduction of this offline file-sharing feature could significantly enhance the platform’s utility and convenience.

As WhatsApp continues to innovate, the prospect of seamless offline file sharing highlights the platform’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions to its global community of users.
