In a customer-centric move, Bharti Airtel, a leading telecommunications service provider in India, has urged its users to embrace the future of mobile technology by making the shift to embedded SIMs (e-SIMs).

The company, in a customer letter issued on Wednesday, highlighted the convenience and efficiency of e-SIMs and streamlined the upgrade process through the user-friendly Airtel Thanks App.

An e-SIM, or an embedded SIM, is essentially an online extension of a regular SIM card, eliminating the need for physical access to the SIM card in one’s phone.

As our lives become increasingly digital, and with the growing prevalence of e-SIM-enabled smart wearables and smartphones, the shift from physical SIMs to e-SIMs offers users seamless connectivity across multiple devices.

Gopal Vittal, the MD and CEO of Bharti Airtel, outlined the various scenarios where e-SIMs prove advantageous for users.

For instance, individuals engaged in a morning jog can now simply wear their smartwatches and stay connected to their phones without the need to physically carry them.

Additionally, e-SIMs enhance security measures by making it more challenging for criminals to disconnect the e-SIM from a stolen device compared to physical SIMs, thus aiding in the traceability of lost phones.

Furthermore, e-SIMs enable users to utilise multiple mobile phone numbers on a single SIM and device, facilitating easy and seamless transitions between devices.

Airtel has prioritised a seamless transition to e-SIMs for its customers, ensuring compatibility with all devices that support the e-SIM feature.

The conversion from a physical SIM to an e-SIM can be effortlessly carried out through the Airtel Thanks App, available for download on both the Google Play Store and Apple iOS App Stores.

For those seeking more information on e-SIMs for smartphones or smartwatches, along with a step-by-step conversion process, Airtel customers can visit www.airtel.in/esim.
