Football legend David Beckham was knighted at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, receiving one of the United Kingdom’s highest honours for his outstanding contribution to sport and charity.
The former England captain, now officially Sir David Beckham, expressed pride and gratitude for the recognition, saying he was deeply honoured to be acknowledged in the King’s Birthday Honours list earlier this year.
“I couldn’t be prouder. People know how patriotic I am—I love my country. The monarchy has always meant a great deal to my family,” he said following the ceremony.
Beckham’s celebrated football career began in Manchester United’s academy in 1992, leading to 11 memorable years with the senior team before his high-profile transfer to Real Madrid in 2003.
He later played for LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain, retiring in 2013.
Over his international career, he earned 115 caps for England, captaining the national team for six years and representing the country in three World Cups and two European Championships.
Off the pitch, Beckham has become a global ambassador for British sport and philanthropy.
He played a key role in helping London secure the 2012 Olympic Games and has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2005.

A decade later, the charity launched a dedicated fund in his name to support vulnerable children around the world.
In 2024, Beckham was appointed ambassador for the King’s Foundation, furthering initiatives focused on education and environmental awareness among youth.
He also remains active in football ownership, serving as co-owner of Inter Miami in the United States and Salford City in the UK.
Beckham’s knighthood not only celebrates his achievements on the field but also his enduring influence as a philanthropist and advocate for youth and community development.
