Gangtok: Sikkim is set to host a high-adrenaline supercar rally that will bring 17 of the world’s most iconic high-performance cars — including Lamborghinis and Porsches — to the state’s challenging mountain terrain, officials said on Tuesday.
The rally is being organised under the Ministry of Defence’s ‘Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan’ initiative, which aims to promote battlefield and border tourism.
Flagging off from Sukna in West Bengal on December 12, the convoy will travel through the Siliguri–Gangtok–Cho La–Nathu La–Gnathang–Zuluk circuit before concluding on December 15. Participants will get a firsthand experience of Sikkim’s dramatic border landscapes and pristine high-altitude routes, officials said.
The event is being organised by the Mumbai-based Super Car Route Group with support from the Indian Army’s Black Cat Division under the Trishakti Corps, along with the state government. Designed as a self-funded, self-driven expedition, the rally aims to position Sikkim as one of India’s most spectacular destinations for driving and adventure tourism.
One of the main highlights of the route is the Cho La Pass (5,420 metres), a strategically significant location linked to the 1967 India–China clashes, now attracting growing interest among travellers exploring battlefield tourism.

In view of the rally, a notification stated that Sikkim’s lifeline NH-10 will remain closed to heavy vehicles on December 12 and 15. Heavy vehicles will be restricted on the 52-km Sevoke–Rangpo stretch from 6 am to 12 pm on December 12, and from 3 pm to 9 pm on December 15.
