Shillong: Shillong Lajong FC wrapped up their I-League 2024-25 campaign with a goalless draw against Delhi FC at the SSA Stadium on Saturday.
The result left the home side on 28 points from 22 matches, provisionally placing them seventh in the table, although they could still be overtaken by Sreenidi Deccan FC or Dempo SC.
For Delhi FC, the outcome sealed an already confirmed relegation, as they finished bottom of the table with just 14 points from 22 outings.
Lajong dominated the match throughout, creating numerous chances but failing to break the deadlock.
Kenstar Kharsong had an early header saved in the 21st minute, while Sheen Sohktung was denied by a sharp save from Delhi goalkeeper Lalmuansanga after being set up by Douglas Tardin.
Just before the break, Marcos Rudwere found himself in a one-on-one situation, only to be thwarted again by the impressive Lalmuansanga, who stood tall for the visitors and made more crucial saves around the hour mark to keep Delhi in the game.

Delhi’s lone promising moment came late in the match when 18-year-old Akash Tirkey, donning the captain’s armband, surged down the left flank and delivered a dangerous low cross into the box.
However, no Delhi attacker was able to connect.
Lajong’s evening ended on a sour note as skipper Renan Paulino was sent off in stoppage time after receiving his second yellow card.
While Lajong end their season with pride intact, Delhi FC now face the daunting task of regrouping in the I-League 2.
