GUWAHATI: Amidst Riyan Parag’s rising popularity, fans of franchise cricket in Assam seem to have endorsed Rajasthan Royals (RR) as their new favourites in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).
Keeping up with the momentum, the Royals have reciprocated the love that their franchise is garnering in Guwahati, its second home of this IPL season.
As a gesture of gratitude, the franchise has organised a meet-and-greet event with their head coach, Kumar Sangakkara, for cricketers of Under-16 and 19, before RR matches on May 15 and 19.
During a press meet at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Thursday, the Royals’ management added that during the interaction, the master middle-order batter will share experiential tips with the upcoming cricketers of the state.
The management further mentioned that a special discount of Rs 500 would be available for students upon presentation of valid documents at the Box Office before the matches. Details regarding the redemption process will be communicated closer to the match dates.
They also invited fans to come and cheer for the Royals in their practice sessions and experience professionals in training at the Barsapara Stadium before the matches.
The booking of online tickets for the May 15 match between RR and the Punjab Kings are currently available in BookMyShow.com.
The Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati will host the Royals taking on Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 15 and clash with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on May 19, the final league match of the season.
Meanwhile, Assam cricketer Riyan is in the form of his life and has already amassed 318 runs this season in seven matches for the RR at a strike-rate of 161.42.
Riyan’s blistering start to the 2024 IPL season has made him the cynosure of all eyes, with voices for his maiden Team India call-up gaining momentum.
Earlier, after RR’s resilient win and a Jos Buttler masterclass against the Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday, former Indian spin-star Harbhajan Singh, while lauding Riyan’s talent, urged him to take a que from the Englishman about finishing matches.
