GUWAHATI: Ahead of the encounter between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings at Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium, assistant coach Brad Haddin has unveiled the team’s strategy to contain the in-form Riyan Parag.
Haddin disclosed that the Kings have a “secret weapon” in assistant bowling coach Trevnor Gonzalves, who has extensively coached Parag.
“We’re lucky we have a secret weapon to tackle him in Trevnor, who has coached him all the way through,” Haddin revealed to the press.
He added that Gonzalves has already shared his insights during the team meeting, and several plans have been devised to neutralise Parag’s threat.
Despite languishing at the bottom of the table and failing to qualify for the playoffs, Punjab Kings are determined to give their all in their last two remaining league games.
Earlier, Haddin hinted at providing opportunities to youngsters in the match against Rajasthan Royals.

“We want the guys to play with freedom. Tomorrow’s game is for them to go out there and express themselves. It is another opportunity for younger guys in the team to develop,” Haddin said during the pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
With Liam Livingstone and Kagiso Rabada unavailable due to injuries, Punjab Kings are expected to make a few changes in their lineup against Rajasthan Royals today.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals, currently placed second in the 10-team table with 16 points, need to ensure one win in their next two home games in Guwahati to secure a spot in the Playoffs.
Parag, riding high on a performance of 483 runs at a strike-rate of 153, will be a key player for RR in today’s game.
Earlier, the local boy had warmly invited his fellow Assamese to support Rajasthan Royals in their upcoming matches in Guwahati.
In a heartfelt video message on May 12, he spoke about the highlight of playing in front of his hometown crowd – the unwavering support.
