New Delhi: Commonwealth Games silver medallist Priyanka Goswami set a new national record in the women’s 35km race walk at the Dudinska 50 competition in Dudince, Slovakia.
Goswami clocked an impressive 2:56:34 to secure 11th place in the prestigious World Athletics Race Walking Tour Gold Label meet.
The 29-year-old shattered the previous national record of 2:57:54, set by Manju Rani at the 2023 National Open Race Walking Championships in Ranchi.
Goswami’s performance also marked a significant improvement over her personal best of 3:13:19.
Ecuador’s Paula Milena Torres clinched the top spot in the event with a time of 2:44:26, while Peru’s Kimberly García (2:45:59) and Poland’s Katarzyna Zdziebło (2:46:59) secured second and third positions, respectively.
Goswami, a two-time Olympian, is no stranger to breaking records. She also holds the national record in the 20km race walk, having clocked 1:28:45 at the 2021 National Race Walking Championships in Ranchi.

Her remarkable achievements include a silver medal in the 10,000m race walk event at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games.
In the men’s 20km race walk at the same event, national record holder Akashdeep Singh delivered a commendable performance, finishing sixth with a time of 1:24:13.
The Dudinska 50 continues to attract world-class athletes, and Goswami’s record-breaking feat is a testament to India’s growing prowess in race walking on the international stage.
