ITANAGAR: Three athletes from the Northeast region have brought laurels to the region with their exceptional performances at the ongoing Moscow Stars Wushu Championship-2024.
The championship that has witnessed outstanding performances from participants around the globe, witnessed Laatwang Kamhua, Abhijit Buragohain and H Bhumika Devi clinch Gold in their respective categories.
Kamhua, from New Kothin village in Tirap district, claimed the gold medal in the 48-kg category at the prestigious championship.
This victory marks Kamhua’s debut success on the international stage of the championship, which is scheduled concludes today.
Notably, Kamhua had previously showcased his talent by securing a gold medal during the 64th National School Games 2018-19 Wushu Boys U17 event held in Delhi.
His dedication and skill not only show his personal success but also make his country vis-à-vis the country proud.
Lauding his feat, Deputy Chif Minister Chowna Mein said that Kamhua’s achievement “serves as a beacon of inspiration”.
“Big applause to Mr. Laatwang Kamhua from Arunachal Pradesh for clinching Gold in the 48-kg category at the Russian Moscow Stars International Wushu Championship 2024. Your exceptional triumph serves as a beacon of inspiration for the aspiring athletes of our State. Best wishes for your future endeavors,” he wrote on a micro-blogging website.
Both Abhijit and Bhumika showcased their prowess in the Junior Sanda category. Abhijit won the Gold in the U-60 kg category, while Bhumika demonstrated her excellence in the U-52 kg.
Expressing their joy and appreciation, National Centre of Excellence (NCoE) employees, under the leadership of assistant director Satrajit Kachari, extend their heartfelt congratulations to the medal winners.
They also commend Abhijit and Bhumika’s coach Umesh Kumar Yadav for his invaluable guidance and support, which contributed to the athletes’ outstanding performances on the international stage.
