Kohima: Nagaland Senior Free Style Wrestling Championship 2022, organised by Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) is all set to begin on November 26 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium.
Hiabe Zeliang, NWA president said there will be 11 categories, including 6 for men and 5 for women. Prize pool for the event is set at Rs 2.42 lakh.
Winners of each category will win a cash prize of Rs 8,000 followed by Rs 6,000 for second position and Rs 4,000 for the third position.
The Angami Wrestling Association, Chakhesang Wrestling Association, Zeliang Wrestling Association and Wokha District Wrestling Association will be sending 5 male and 3 female wrestlers each for all the categories.
In addition to the four associations, the NWA has invited wrestlers from other districts to send wrestlers and be part of the championship.
Weighing for the wrestlers will be done on November 25 at the venue followed by a de-briefing, Zeliang said.
Winners of all the categories would be representing Nagaland at the national level after they get selected at the National Selection Competition.
The association also invited spectators to come and encourage the players and also witness the event.
Meanwhile, NWA felicitated all the wrestlers who won medals at the recently concluded 2nd North East Olympic Games.
