AMPATI: The second edition of the highly anticipated Ampati Super Division League Football Tournament in Meghalaya’s South West Garo Hills kicked off on Monday.
Organized by the Ampati District Football Association (ADFA), the tournament is more than just a competition; it’s a platform for Ampati’s finest footballers to vie for the championship title and a chance to compete in the prestigious Meghalaya Super League.
The Ampati Super Division League features eight teams from across the district, with the winners progressing to the Tura league. The tournament was inaugurated by Mahendraganj MLA Sanjay A Sangma in the presence of MDCs Stevie Marak, Sanjay Koch, and District Sports Officer Slajagring M Marak.
During his interaction with the participants, MLA Sangma announced the construction of two new sporting infrastructures in the district, each valued at Rs 9 crore and equipped with modern amenities, including astro turf. He encouraged the players to seize this opportunity to showcase their talent and exemplify true sportsmanship.
Earlier, District Sports Officer Saljagring Marak informed the gathering about his office’s contribution of Rs 2 lakh in aid of the tournament organized by the ADFA.
