Singapore: India’s junior compound archers delivered stellar performances at the Asian Cup Leg 2, advancing to the finals in both the men’s and women’s individual events on Tuesday, reaffirming their dominance on the continental stage.
In the men’s individual compound category, top-seeded Kushal Dalal secured his place in the gold medal match with a commanding 147-143 victory over Bangladesh’s Himu Bachhar in the semifinals.
Dalal, who led the qualification round with an impressive 714 points, is now assured of at least a silver medal.
However, Sachin Chechi, seeded 10th, fell short in his semifinal against Australia’s Joshua Machon and will compete against Bachhar for the bronze medal.
The women’s individual compound event is set to be an all-Indian affair, guaranteeing both gold and silver medals for the nation.
Top seed Shanmukhi Naga Sai Budde, who qualified with 706 points, defeated Indonesia’s Yurike Nina Bonita Pereira 145-139 to reach the final.
She will face compatriot and second seed Tejal Salve, who overcame Malaysia’s Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh with a remarkable 147-142 performance.

India’s achievements in Singapore extend beyond the finals, with the team setting two world records earlier in the tournament.
The women’s compound team, comprising Shanmukhi, Tejal, and Tanishka Thokal, set a new team qualification world record with a total score of 2101 points.
Additionally, the mixed team duo of Kushal Dalal and Shanmukhi achieved another world record, posting a combined score of 1420 points in qualification.
