The Indian women’s national field hockey team is set to participate in the FIH Hockey Nations Cup, which will be held in Auckland, New Zealand, from June 15 to 21.

The tournament, introduced in 2021 by the International Hockey Federation, provides a high-level competition platform for the top-ranked teams that are not part of the FIH Pro League.

The winner of the Nations Cup earns an opportunity to be promoted to the Pro League in the following season.

India’s participation in the event comes after the team was relegated from the 2024–25 Pro League, finishing at the bottom of the nine-team table.

Apart from India, the women’s tournament will feature the New Zealand women’s national field hockey team, along with the United States women’s national field hockey team, Japan women’s national field hockey team, South Korea women’s national field hockey team, Chile women’s national field hockey team, and Scotland women’s national field hockey team.

The France women’s national field hockey team will also compete in the tournament after securing promotion from the Nations Cup 2.

The men’s edition of the FIH Hockey Nations Cup will be held in Cape Town from June 11 to 20.

Teams set to compete in the tournament include the South Africa men’s national field hockey team, New Zealand men’s national field hockey team, France men’s national field hockey team, South Korea men’s national field hockey team, Japan men’s national field hockey team, Wales men’s national field hockey team, and Malaysia men’s national field hockey team.

The Scotland men’s national field hockey team secured its place in the event through qualification from Nations Cup 2, while the Ireland men’s national field hockey team will also participate after being relegated from the 2024–25 Pro League.
