Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh judoka Khomdan Wanghop has clinched a bronze medal in the 55kg category at the Junior National Judo Championships (JNJC) 2024-25 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
Hailing from New Changnyak village in Tirap district, Wanghop’s journey to the podium was marked by exceptional skill and unwavering determination.
He reached the quarterfinals, where he faced a tough contest against a strong Punjab opponent.
He navigated through the initial rounds, showcasing his prowess and reaching the quarterfinals.
Despite losing in the quarterfinal, Wanghop’s fighting spirit remained undeterred and he fought back through the repechage rounds.
In a decisive bronze medal bout, Wanghop triumphed over his Gujarat opponent, earning a well-deserved podium finish.
Taking to X, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated the young athlete on his remarkable feat.
