NAMSAI: With the theme ‘No to Drugs, Yes to Badminton’, the 11th Li-Ning Dorjee Khandu Memorial State Badminton Championship kicked off in Arunachal Pradesh’s Namsai on Sunday.
“Use this opportunity to learn from your drawbacks, advance your skills, and rise further in the shuttlers’ world,” Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu posted on X.
Gracing the opening ceremony as the chief guest, Health & Family Welfare Minister Biyuram Wahge advised the players to maintain discipline both on and off the field.
A host of dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, attended the event.
Mein laid stress on the need for sports coaching in the state to help athletes reach national and international levels of competition.
He also encouraged the youths to read biographies of renowned athletes to understand their struggles and gain inspiration.
Players from 26 districts, Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy, the APP Sports Control Board, and RGU will be seen competing for top honours during the five-day event.

The badminton tourney is being organised by the Namsai Badminton Association under the auspices of the Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA).
The 11th Li-Ning Dorjee Khandu Memorial State Badminton Championship is a key event in the state’s sports calendar.
The five-day sporting event will culminate on August 22.
