GANGTOK: Tourists can now add Sikkim Science Centre to their must-visit list as it has been officially included in the state’s tourism itinerary.
Sandeep Tambe, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), said the decision to include Sikkim Science Centre in the tourist itinerary will enhance the centre’s prominence and offer a unique and enriching experience to visitors.
“The centre’s interactive exhibits and programs cater to all ages, making it an exciting and educational stop for everyone,” he added.
The Sikkim Science Centre at Marchak, Ranipool in East Sikkim has been set up under the Sikkim State Council of Science & Technology in collaboration with the National Council of Science Museum.
The Sikkim Science Centre boasts a 3D theatre, planetarium, and innovation hub, offering immersive and educational experiences for science enthusiasts. By encouraging tourists to explore the centre’s offerings, the state aims to promote scientific curiosity and learning.
Tourists will be encouraged to visit the centre and participate in its various activities, he said.
He stated that the Science Centre’s inclusion in the tourism itinerary would not only attract visitors but would serve as a catalyst for scientific awareness among the local population, particularly among students.
The main galleries of the centre have exciting interactive exhibits. The gallery “Unique Humankind”, is a major exposition revealing why or how human being is unique among the various life forms on Earth.
Besides, students can also enjoy the interactive exhibits of the Fun Science gallery. The Children’s Activity Corner is a haven for little minds, offering an array of puzzles and science kits to spark imagination and curiosity.
