KOHIMA: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has expressed gratitude to a scientist from Nagaland, for his significant contributions to the development of Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) technology.
Dr Belenso T Yimchunger, along with a team of esteemed individuals, received commendations for their invaluable efforts in a letter issued by ISRO’s Chairman, Dr. S Somanath recently.
The letter not only acknowledged their contributions but also expressed keen interest in future collaborations with them.
Son of a retired electrician, Dr Yimchunger has been a stalwart innovator for years.
In 2023, he introduced the groundbreaking Pungro Power Soil, a soil converter named after his native village in the Kiphire district of Nagaland.
Prior to that, in 2022, Dr Yimchunger pioneered the development of an indigenous voice-activated control system named “Tiger”.
Last week marked a significant milestone for ISRO as it accomplished the landing mission of its RLV named “Pushpak” from the Aeronautical Test Range (ATR) in Challakere near Karnataka’s Chitradurga.
The winged RLV has been carefully designed to test advanced technologies like hypersonic flight, autonomous landing, and powered cruise flight.
With an investment exceeding Rs 100 crore, the RLV project also lays the groundwork for India’s future endeavours.
Among these ambitious goals is the establishment of the Bhartiya Antariksha Station by 2035, underlining India’s commitment to space exploration and innovation on a global scale.
