Shillong: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Monday reached Shillong to draft the campaign plan for the party’s electoral victory in Meghalaya.
Accompanied by TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, Mamata Banerjee landed at Umroi Airport, where she was welcomed by her supporters.
During her two-day visit to Shillong, the TMC chief will attend a series of events, and will have several rounds of meetings with senior leaders of the party in Meghalaya.
“We are very happy that the AITC chairperson is here on her first-time visit. All the foot soldiers from the party from nooks and corners of the state have got their chance to meet her,” former chief minister Mukul Sangma said.
Sangna, who is also the leader of the opposition in Meghalaya said, all the members of the party will get the opportunity to get an audience with Mamata Banerjee during her stay in Shillong.
On Tuesday, Mamata Banerjee will attend the Party Workers’ Convention at the U Soso Tham Auditorium.
Representatives of all district and block committees; members of women, youth and student frontal organisations are likely to attend the workers convention.
In the evening, Mamata Banerjee would attend Pre-Christmas celebrations with children from different orphanages.
The TMC chief will meet tribal headmen from Khasi and Jaintia Hills, eminent members from the civil society and prominent influencers of Meghalaya at the Windermere Resort at Umpling in Shillong.
