New Delhi: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra got married to advocate and former BJD MP Pinaki Misra this week in Germany according to reports.
Sources close to the matter suggest the event was kept low-key, with minimal media attention and no formal announcements.
When contacted, several of Moitra’s colleagues within the TMC said they had no knowledge of the wedding.
Moitra, 50, currently serves her second term in the Lok Sabha representing Krishnanagar, West Bengal.
A former investment banker, she entered politics through state-level representation and has built a reputation for her vocal parliamentary presence.
She was previously married to Lars Brorson, a financier from Denmark.
Misra, aged 65, has represented Puri constituency in Odisha multiple times as a member of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
He is also a senior advocate at the Supreme Court, known for his legal acumen and parliamentary experience.
While the reported marriage is a personal matter, it has naturally attracted attention due to the public stature of both individuals and their affiliations with different political parties.
Such unions are rare but not unheard of in Indian politics, highlighting the personal relationships that sometimes bridge ideological divides.
Both Moitra and Misra have played influential roles in their respective regions and parties.
