Hyderabad: The death toll from the explosion at Sigachi Pharma Industries in Telangana’s Sangareddy district has risen to 36, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy confirmed on Tuesday.
Addressing the tragedy, the chief minister assured that the state government, in coordination with the company, will ensure Rs 1 crore compensation is provided to the families of the deceased.
Revanth Reddy, who visited the site of the blast in Pashamylaram, also announced financial support for the injured.
Those with severe injuries will receive Rs. 10 lakh each, while those with recoverable injuries will be compensated with Rs. 5 lakh.
Additionally, the state government will provide Rs. 1 lakh to each bereaved family and Rs. 50,000 to the injured to meet immediate expenses.
Speaking at the site, the chief minister stated, “The state government will work with the management of Sigachi Industries Ltd to ensure Rs. 1 crore compensation for each family of the deceased. Both the government and the company will contribute to this effort. Furthermore, all medical expenses for the injured will be borne by the state and the company.”
Officials revealed that most of the deceased hailed from Odisha, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana.
At the time of the explosion, 143 workers were present at the plant. While 56 individuals have been accounted for, search operations are ongoing to locate the missing.

Authorities suspect that a chemical reaction caused the explosion on Monday morning.
Reddy assured strict action against those found responsible for the incident.
The chief minister later visited the injured at the hospital, reiterating the government’s commitment to their treatment and recovery.
The tragedy has cast a shadow over the state, as officials continue rescue operations and investigations into the cause of the devastating blast.
