Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday made a dramatic announcement, expelling his elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, from the party for six years and publicly disassociating from him over what he described as repeated misconduct and actions unbecoming of the family’s values.
Taking to social media platform X, Lalu declared that his son’s recent behaviour had crossed the line.
“His actions and public statements do not reflect the ideals our family upholds. I am left with no choice but to remove him from the RJD and sever all personal and political connections,” he wrote.
This stunning move follows controversy surrounding a social media post made from Tej Pratap’s Facebook account a day earlier.
The post featured a photograph of the 37-year-old politician alongside a young woman identified as “Anushka Yadav,” with a caption claiming the two had been in a relationship for over a decade.
“We are in love and have been together for the last 12 years,” the caption read.
Soon after the post went viral, Tej Pratap claimed that his account had been hacked and the image tampered with.
He addressed the situation on X, saying, “My Facebook page was compromised, and the photos were edited maliciously.”
The original post sparked widespread backlash, particularly in light of Tej Pratap’s marriage to Aishwarya Rai in 2018.

Aishwarya, the granddaughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Daroga Prasad Rai, had left his residence just months into their marriage, accusing him and his family of mistreatment.
It remains unclear whether Tej Pratap has filed a formal police complaint regarding the alleged hacking.
He has, however, urged his followers not to fall for “rumours or manipulated content.”
