GANGTOK: IAS officer Ravindra Telang has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Sikkim, officials confirmed on Sunday.
He will succeed VB Pathak, who is set to retire on December 31.
Telang, a 1995 batch IAS officer, previously served as the Additional Chief Secretary in charge of the Education Department, a role he held since 2022.
Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang congratulated Telang on his appointment, expressing his confidence in Telang’s leadership.
“Heartiest congratulations to Shri Ravindra Telang, IAS, on his well-deserved promotion as the Chief Secretary of the Government of Sikkim,” Tamang said in a post on social media.
He further praised Telang’s dedication, expertise, and commitment to public service, adding that the appointment marked a significant achievement for the officer.
The Chief Minister expressed his belief that under Telang’s leadership, Sikkim would achieve new milestones in progress, prosperity, and innovation.
Tamang also extended his gratitude to outgoing Chief Secretary V B Pathak for his valuable contributions to the state’s development during his tenure.
