Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with ‘The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana’, the country’s national honour, for his “distinguished statesmanship and influential global leadership”.
The prestigious award was presented by Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday during PM Modi’s visit to the West African nation.
Expressing gratitude, PM Modi posted on X, “Honoured to be conferred with ‘The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana’.”
In his acceptance speech, the prime minister said the honour was not just a personal achievement but one that he accepted on behalf of the 140 crore people of India.
He dedicated the award to the country’s youth, its rich cultural heritage, and the enduring ties between India and Ghana.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the honour as a symbol of the close and growing relationship between the two nations.
Modi thanked the government and people of Ghana for the recognition and noted that shared democratic values and traditions will continue to guide and strengthen the partnership between the two countries.

He said the award “deepens the friendship between India and Ghana” and “places new responsibility” on him to continue enhancing bilateral ties.
PM Modi also expressed confidence that his “historic” visit would add fresh momentum to India-Ghana relations.
