New Delhi: In a decisive counter-terror operation, India killed over 70 terrorists and injured more than 60 others in a series of precision missile strikes across nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The strikes were carried out in the early hours following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

Codenamed ‘Operation Sindoor’, the mission targeted key terror infrastructure in Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bahawalpur, Rawalakot, Chakswari, Bhimber, Neelum Valley, Jhelum, and Chakwal.

Indian officials described the strikes as “focused, proportionate, and non-escalatory,” aimed specifically at neutralizing threats without targeting civilian areas or Pakistani military installations.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said in a press briefing that the operation was conducted based on “credible intelligence” and was intended to cripple terrorist networks plotting further attacks on Indian soil. “India reserves the right to defend itself against cross-border terrorism in a manner that is measured and responsible,” he stated.

The high-level operation involved a coordinated effort by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally monitoring its progress.

The strikes were launched at approximately 1:44 am local time and were hailed as a significant strategic success by Indian defense analysts.

Top military officials, including Colonel Sofiya Qureshi of the Army and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh from the Air Force, provided further details about the operation.

They confirmed that the targeted terror camps had direct links to Pakistan-based organisations believed to be behind recent attacks in India.

An official government statement reinforced India’s firm stance: “These strikes serve as a direct warning to those who support and harbour terrorism. We have acted with precision and responsibility. No Pakistani military facilities were attacked.”

India’s bold action through Operation Sindoor signals a renewed commitment to safeguarding national security and holding accountable those responsible for orchestrating violence on its territory.
